For multi-family dwellings, the following applies: in principle, only names of persons on the bell system who are entitled to live in the dwellings are allowed (the name of the spouse does not require the permission of the landlord, but that of the girlfriend).

The landlord and the condominium community may require that the design of the doorbell panel is uniform.

If the renter raises an objection to the identification of the bell with his name, this can be interpreted as an objection or a revocation to a presumed consent. Therefore, the name of the tenant should then be removed. The tenant may not then choose what is on the bell. It must be a unique assignment of the bell to a particular apartment also for third parties weiterin possible. Therefore, it is advisable to specify the location name or number of the apartment instead of the name.

Since the tenant is entitled to a data protection claim that his name is removed from the doorbell, the community may not be able to enforce their unified labeling. After all, according to data protection law, consent must always be voluntary.
